Sweet in taste, Anarsa is special snack item famous in many parts of India but is commonly made in Bihar, Jharkhand, particularly in Gaya district and in Maharashtra, which have made a name and is known for it.
It is made of rice, gur (jaggery), ghee, rava and poppy seed which make it a lip-smacking recipe which is a healthy substitute with the calorie-filled snacks. In Bihar Anarsa comes in both round and flat shape while In Maharashtra one would get only flat one. One can get Anarsa in different parts of the country but mostly in flat shape with some hardness while in Bihar where you get both types, but, the round one is softer and when tasted in hot fried condition, it has no parallel. It is rich in iron and calcium.
